The BLACK hat Judgment, caution and evaluation All the difficulties and criticism about your idea. Consider the following: • Costs • Regulations • Safety issues Mistakes can be disastrous. It is the most used hat and the most useful hat. However, it is very easy to overuse by killing creative ideas with negativity.
The RED hat intuition, feelings, relation and emotions • Wearing the red hat allows you to put forward your feelings and intuition without the need for justification, explanation or apology. You express what you feel about the project Examples: • I don't like this because… • This proposal is… • My intuition tells me that…
The GREEN hat creating new ideas and new ways of looking at things: • creative thinking • interesting proposals • new approaches Even if no creative ideas are forthcoming, the green hat asks for the creative effort. • Are there any other ideas here? • Are there any additional alternatives? • Could we do this in a different way?
The BLUE hat Controlling the process of thinking – ONE PERSON in a group organizes and controls the procedure • Sets the agenda • Suggests the next hat • Asks for a summary, conclusion, or decision: "Could we have a summary of your views? "
