Ipswich School
History Ipswich School dates back to 1399. Cardinal Wolsey, who assisted King Henry VIII, gave funding to Ipswich School. The School was only for boys until about 30 years ago.
Houses There are six ‘houses’ in Ipswich school: Holden Rigaud School Sherrington Felaw Broke The houses compete against eachother in activites, for example, music and sport.
The Sixth-Form The Ipswich School Sixth. Form includes students aged 16 -18. It is the part of the school that we are currently in. It includes 2 year groups: Year 12 and Year 13. Teaching for students in the Sixth-Form is usually more personal for each student. There are usually more teachers for each subject, per class, than for other year groups.
Subjects The range of subjects available In the Sixth-Form: There a variety of subjects which one may study at Ipswich School. In the Sixth-Form, students usually study 4 subjects for the first year and 3 subjects for the second year. In lower years, students study between 10 and 14 subjects at a time, with some subjects being available only in certain years. • • • • • Maths, English, Art, Design and Technology, Music, History, Geography, Classics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Physical Education, Religious Studies, Business Studies, Economics, French, Spanish, Russian.
The Library of Ipswich School is a place open to all year groups. One may visit the Library in order to work quietly and study. It is usually a peaceful place, which is helpful when it is necessary to concentrate on work. There is also a large selection of books available to borrow from the library. This includes novels, poetry, plays, textbooks and encyclopaedias.
