1. Introduction to Type Approval a method to ensure standard and quality of telecom equipments that are being imported or manufactured in Nepal Telecommunications Act 2053 authorizes NTA to prescribe, fix and approve standard and quality of telecom equipments Nepal Telecommunications Authority 2
2. Need for Type Approval To ensure quality of telecom products To protect consumer interest To make sure telecom equipments abide frequency policy and power levels To create a level playing field for all Nepal Telecommunications Authority 3
• Customer site Terminals that connect to public switched Networks (eg: GSM, CDMA, DECT, etc) • Low Power Devices (LPDs) or Short Range Devices (SRDs) (eg: 802. 11 a/b/g/e/n, Bluetooth device, etc) Non-Radio Telecommunications Equipments 3.
