Events Cooper-Young Festival (Sept 15 th): Through Friends for Life, students help with counseling on HIV awareness and safe sex. World Diabetes Day (Nov 14 th): Students perform blood glucose screenings while providing educational materials on diabetes.
Events World Aids Day (Dec 1 st): Through Friends for Life and local churches, students place white markers with red ribbons in commemoration of all those who lost their battle with AIDS in Shelby County since 2005. Also, IPSF raise donations for Hope House in Memphis.
Events World Tuberculosis Day (March 24 th): At the Getwell Easter Health Fair, students provide Shelby County statistics of TB and educate patients about TB and locations of testing centers.
Events Refugee Health Fair (spring): In collaboration with Catholic Charities, IPSF and other ASP committees provide BMI and blood pressure screenings and counsel on nutrition, dental hygiene, proper inhaler use, and scheduling of immunizations.
Mission Trips Haiti (summer): Seven student pharmacists traveled to Hinche, Haiti to provide clinical services to local Haitians at the Whitney Clinic.
Mission Trips Philippines (summer): Three student pharmacists journeyed to Santa Cruz, Laguna, Philippines with FILAM Memphis to provide surgical and clinical services to underprivileged areas in the Philippines.
