Plan: ✓international migration; ✓nine groups; ✓permanent and temporary migrant; ✓incentives for migration ✓migration flows ✓test
International migration • International migration occurs when peoples cross state boundaries and stay in the host state for some minimum length of time. Migration occurs for many reasons. • Many people leave their home countries in order to look for economic opportunities in another country. • Others migrate to be with family members who have migrated or because of political conditions in their countries. • Education is another reason for international migration, as students pursue their studies abroad.
Migration is increasing dramatically and globally
Nine groups of international migration • • • temporary labour migrants; irregular, illegal, or undocumented migrants; highly skilled and business migrants; refugees; asylum seekers; forced migration; family members; return migrants; and long-term, low-skilled migrants.
Permanent and Temporary migrants • Permanent migrants intend to establish their permanent residence in a new country and possibly obtain that country’s citizenship. • Temporary migrants intend only to stay for a limited periods of time; perhaps until the end of a particular program of study or for the duration of a their work contract or a certain work season. • Both types of migrants have a significant effect on the economies and societies of the chosen destination country and the country of origin.
• • • Push Factors Poor Medical Care Not enough jobs Few opportunities Primitive Conditions Political fear Fear of torture and mistreatment Religious discrimination Loss of wealth Natural disasters Bullying Lower chances of finding courtship
• • • Pull Factors Chances of getting a job Better living standards Enjoyment Education Better Medical Care Security Family Links Lower crime Better chances of finding courtship
Migration flows are all over the world, its an international issue which affects a lot of people and a number of international organization for example: The united Nations, OECD, UNHCR etc. These organizations make policies and try to help refugees to get a citzenship or help them get back to the country where they came from if their new country doesn't accept them. This involves migration policy and continents because countries have people who are migrating to or are immigrating from. I will give you some examples of the causes migration flow can have on macro perspective and on micro perspective.
test
While there are several different potential systems for categorizing international migrants, one system organizes them into. . . • • • two groups six groups three groups nine groups five groups
migrants can also be divided into two large groups • • • irregular and undocumented migrants refugees and asylum seekers permanent and temporary forced migration and family members return migrants and long-term
Migrants in the World • • • 3, 15 % of the world population almost 217 million 6 853 328 460 215 738 325 almost 215 million
and now we have two theoretical questions! • what is international migration? • what is defenition migration flows?
Thank you for your attention! : )
