à THE JOURNAL HISTORY and AIM 1930: Joseph Stini founds this journal with the title “Geologie und Bauwesen” 1963: “Rock Mechanics and Engineering Geology” becomes the official scientific journal of ISRM (Müller) 1969: the title changes to “Rock Mechanics - Felsmechanik - Mechanique des Roches” Publishing each year the Rocha Medal Paper (when available) and 6 issues comprising a Special Issue (since 2007). We look for a close connection between theory and practice. Our aim is “to have a balance between articles dealing with fundamentals of rock mechanics, with engineering geology, and problems arising from construction practice” (Kovári and Einstein, 1983). 1 2
