Common Problems and Suggested Solutions
To improve punctuality Reach the school 15 minutes before the school starts. On seeing the Principal present, most of the staff will start coming punctually. The remaining will improve once various mechanisms set in the school system are implemented.
To improve punctuality and attendance of the students specially in rural areas Students are interested in home affairs and are generally not serious about their studies. Counseling of students and parents should be done and strict action should be taken if they do not attend the school. Effective teaching & learning should take place. Strict supervision of classes should be done. Inculcating co-operative learning among the students. Creating a platform for the students where they can express their talents. Providing sports-facilities and extra curricular activities in order to sustain their interest.
To improve attendance in board classes in the month of February Interaction with students and parents, explaining them the importance of attending the school during this period. Personally informing the parents telephonically regarding the absence and problem faced from their wards. Usually parents are unaware, and talking to them on phone is very effective Preparation of structured schedule of revision by all teachers and strictly adhering to it. Valuable time of students should not be wasted. Block teaching should be implemented. Students should be motivated and their individual problems solved. Supervision of substitute periods have to be monitored closely. Stress on co-operative learning.
TO IMPROVE RESULTS Regular supervision of the classroom teaching Result analysis of SA 1 Result analysis of regular as well as guest teachers Identification of weak students Arrangement of zero periods for them Action plan by the teachers and regular follow up Focus on the problems of the students individually.
TO IMPROVE RESULTS (contd. ) Personal attention on the work of the weak students. Encourage co-operative learning. Practice from support material provided by the department Practice from the support material available on CBSE website for crucial subjects such as economics, mathematics etc Continuous evaluation for assessing improvement in the students. Parents should be involved in improving the performance of their wards and counseled to provide a supporting environment at home
To Curtail Truancy Strict supervision. Attendance in first and eighth period. Action against defaulters. Co-operation from parents. Improving the ambience of the school and providing good academic environment. Organizing educational trips to sustain the interest of the students. Allocating important duties to the students.
To enhance performance of students Bridge course for class 6 th : This will help to refresh the class V course which will enhance the performance of students coming from MCD Schools. Circle Time : By this activity expression of students is improved. This can be carried out in substitute period by the principal or the teacher. Once the students are free, they come out with their problems. Helps in building up of confidence level. Stress on tests and writing. Orientation programme of parents at each entry class level starting from KG. Expectation of school from parents can be discussed. The co-operation from parents can be sought. This does wonders. It helps to make the parents aware of all schemes & facilities provided to students
