DS Real. Vue RAID • This configuration provides fault tolerance and system redundancy via hot-swappable hard drives and dual power supplies. • DS Real. RAID 10 (Stripe of mirrors) What is it? Where Integral uses it: • Requires 4 or more disks RAID 10 is used on a SAVR & VAU in an Enterprise hardware configuration. • RAID 10 is a combination of RAID 1 (mirror) and RAID 0 (Striping with NO parity) • Disk 1 and 2 are mirror images of each other. Disk 3 and 4 are mirror images of each other • Data is striped across the RAID 1 arrays • Has the same fault tolerance of RAID 1 • High I/O rates achieved by striping RAID 1 segments gives a performance boost

RAID 5 (Striping with parity) What is it? Where Integral uses it: • Requires 3 or more disks RAID 5 is used in extended RAID Storage. (i. e. Jet. Stor or Nexsan ATABoy 2 units) • Data is written in parts and distributed across the disks in the array. (A 1 – A 3, B 1 – B 3, etc. ) • The parity bits are also distributed among the disks. (Ap, Bp, Cp, Dp) • If a single drive fails, no data is lost • If multiple drives fail, all data in the array is lost • Highest Read data rate • Medium Write data rate • Efficient use of space
