INFINITIVES

Infinitive • Base form of a verb tense – simple present. e. g. go , went. Gone. • Comes after the main verb E. g. He went to buy a car. Main verb infinitive

• Most infinitives comes after “to” e. g. I went to open the door. He ordered me to sit down. She asked him to post the letter.

• Always in simple present. e. g. He is going out He has gone out He will go out He was going out No matter how we change the verb tense of the main verb, to buy a car. the infinitive is always in simple present
