The general problem Knowledge about wood properties and their impact on final products is insufficient for achieving a significantly improved yield. Postulate & conclusion Knowledge about wood properties and their impact on quality and the final end-use of wood products helps to choose the most suitable log for a specific product already in the forest. This contributes to significantly reduced amount of waste due to improper wood characteristics.
