In early October Barak returned from his month in Israel, where he helped to care for his mother, Eti, who is seriously ill with advanced Esophageal cancer. It was a very difficult trip for all involved and our thoughts stay with Eti, Emanuel and the brothers who remain in Israel to keep up the daily struggle. The girls were overjoyed to be reunited with their dad, who was very relieved to be back home.
After keeping everything together for a month, I pretty much collapsed into a “jet lag” like sleep for a couple of days – Barak joked I stole his jet lag. . . The girls were ecstatic to get many presents from our friends and family in Israel.
The highlights, if you asked the girls, were the castle from grandpa Ido (top), the amazing life like bionic fish and cute owl backpacks from our friends Shachar and Marianna. Thanks everyone for the books, workbooks and more – they will be put to good use!
Alma turned the Korean fan Barak brought her from his travels into an i. Pad screen! Enjoying a light family dinner (the girls made veggie faces on their plates)
The girls decided to celebrate the return of their dad with lunch at the Sushi train restaurant in Penrith
For dessert we walked into the nearby South American decadent cafe. The girls both wanted strawberry ice cream and I had a thick chocolate drink –ah, bliss. . .
Also, we saw the cute movie Turbo, which is about a race snail. That is of course very relevant, as Barak’s symbol is the snail. . . We all had a fantastic day together!
It was nice to get back to our regular routine, where on weekends Barak would spend time with the girls while I caught up with some sleep (I usually sleep very little and quite bad at nights, so I gradually accumulate fatigue all week till I deflate on weekends)
Barak did some volunteer work as an editor for the Israeli web-based newsletter E-Ton, that is located in Melbourne and caters for the Israeli community in Australia. In our next presentation: School holidays workshops at the Penrith Regional Gallery
