Types of essay 1. People who live in large cities face a range of problems in their daily life. What are the most significant of these problems? How can these problems be tackled? 2. These days, more and more people are going to other counties for significant periods of time , either to find a job or to study. There are clearly many benefits to doing this, but people who live abroad can also face some difficulties. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of living and working in a foreign country. 3. Physical appearance may play an important role in many spheres of life: in the person’s success in school, in relationships with people, in the choice of a career path. Say whether you agree or disagree with it, and if you see it as a positive or negative factor.
Types of essay 4. Some people think a crime should always have a fixed punishments, like life for murder , whereas others think you should take the circumstances of the crime into account. What is your viewpoint? 5. Some people view teenage conflict with their parents aa a necessary part of growing up, whilst others see it as something negative which should be avoided. Discuss both views and give your opinion. 6. It is common aspiration among many young people to run their own business, rather than work for an employer. Do you think the advantages of working for yourself outweigh the drawbacks?

How to Write a Thesis Statement A thesis statement is your main idea and how you feel about the whole issue in one sentence. It tells the examiner that you have understood the question and will lead to a clearer; more coherent essay.
• Question: There is a good deal of evidence that increasing car use is contributing to global warming and having other undesirable effects on people’s health and well-being. To what extent do you agree or disagree? • Thesis statement: It is agreed that increasing use of motor vehicles is contributing to rising global temperatures and certain health issues.
It is argued that governments should levy a tariff on junk food because the number of health risks associated with consuming this kind of food is on the rise. It is agreed that a higher rate of tax should be paid by fast food companies. Firstly, this essay will discuss the fact that alcohol and tobacco companies already pay higher taxes and secondly, discuss how higher taxes would raise prices and lower consumption, followed by a reasoned conclusion.

Conclusion Sentence 1 - Summary Sentence 2 - Prediction or Recommendation Don’t write any new ideas in this paragraph. A summary should just restate your thesis statement and your main supporting points.
