The CB Scheme § The CB Scheme is based on the principle of mutual recognition (reciprocal acceptance) by its members of test results for obtaining certification or approval at national level. § The Scheme is intended to reduce obstacles to international trade which arise from having to meet different national certification or approval criteria. § Participation of the worldwide NCBs within the Scheme is intended to facilitate certification or approval according to IEC standards. 27

The CB Scheme Process Alternatively the Issuing NCB can act on behalf of the Manufacturer to directly contact 1 or more NCBs in countries B to seek the certification mark/approval of the Certification Body(ies) member(s) of the IECEE in the relevant countries 56

The CB Scheme Process Multilateral Acceptance by the IECEE Member NCBs § Second NCB recognizes the CB Test Results and CB Test Certificate that have already been granted by the Issuing NCB and grants its certification mark/approval § Manufacturer may now affix the NCB’s mark/approval of conformity of the second country to the product and may export the product to that country 57
