I AM THE DOOR OF THE SHEEP
DEFINITION A door is a movable structure used to open and close an entrance, typically consisting of a panel that swings on hinges or that slides or spins inside a space. When open, doors admit people, animals, ventilation, and light. The door is used to control the physical atmosphere within a space by enclosing the air drafts, so that interiors may be more effectively heated or cooled. Doors are significant in preventing the spread of fire. They act as a barrier to noise. Many doors are equipped with locking mechanisms to allow entrance to certain people and keep out others. When young people want us to know that something is of major importance, they sometimes say, “Man, that’s heavy. ” The subject of glory is in that category. It is heavy! As a matter of fact, the most common word for glory in the Old Testament comes from a root that means literally “to be heavy. ” In Old Testament times, a person’s weight was his glory. In that time a man’s glory referred to what he was and what he had—his honour, his reputation, or his possessions.
V 10 Who is He, this King of Glory? The Lord Almighty— He is the King of Glory.
At night, when the black shadows came creeping up the hillsides, the good shepherd called his sheep to the sheepfold. Each sheep had a name. The good shepherd knew them all. He would call, “Rosebud! Olive Blossom! Palm Tree!” and the sheep would answer his call and come to the sheepfold. “I AM the Door” Around the sheepfold was a wide stone wall, with thorns on the top, to keep lions and bears from jumping over. The shepherd stood at the door and held the sheep back, one by one, with his stick. If a sheep had fallen down and hurt itself, he bathed the sore spot with oil. If a little lamb was tired out from playing all day long, he rubbed oil on its head, and gave it water to drink from a big cup with two handles. (ubdavid. org )
JESUS – THE DOOR OF THE SHEEP JOHN 10: 7 -10 (NKJV) Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I AM the Door of the sheep. 8 All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I AM the Door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
