Hurts are an British synthpop duo from Manchester composed of singer Theo Hutchcraft (born on 30 august, 1986) and synth player Adam Anderson ( born on 14 may, 1984).
History In July 2009, the band featured as "Band of the Day" on Guardian. co. uk. They finished in fourth position in BBC's Sound of 2010 poll. The band's song “Wonderful Life" was notably remixed by Arthur Baker. In early 2010 they officially released their debut single, “Better Then Love" with famous Romanian actress Laura Cosoi, and played their first ever live shows. The song "Illuminated" was also the soundtrack to Sky 1 HD's advert in spring/summer 2010, and again in February 2011.
. Their debut album called Happiness was released on 6 September 2010. It contains a duet with Kylie Minogue entitled "Devotion". To promote the release of their debut album, the band collaborated with author Joe Stretch to produce an interactive audio book narrated by Anna Friel. It is found on the online music player Spotify, with the first entry being found by searching for "a 5 m 4".
Before Hurts, singer Theo and synth player Adam were previously in bands named "Bureau", later to be renamed "Daggers". In September 2010 it was announced their UK tour was sold out, and that Hurts would support Scissor Sisters on their UK tour later that year. Hurts appeared on Sky Sports show Soccer AM to promote their album and their single "Stay". The duo released "All I Want for Christmas Is New Year's Day" in December 2010. News of the single was confirmed on their label RCA's official website, as well as by their A&R team. They tweeted: "News just in! Hurts will release a Chrimbo single 'All I Want For Christmas Is New Year's Day' this December. We've heard it & it's AMAZING. " The song was available on i. Tunes free of charge for one week from 14 December. The video premiered on 2 December on their website. Hurts recently announced they were approached to work with Leona Lewis. Hurts will appear at the Isle of Wight Festival, Glastonbury Festival, T in the Park, Latitude Festival, V Festival and Elevation Festival in the summer 2011.
History of creation of group For the first time they have met outside of the Manchester indi-club under the name 42 nd Street shortly before Christmas of 2005. In 4 mornings they left club and have seen that their friends fight. Instead of without cause starting to wave fists a rational duet has decided to talk about music, about Prinse and Michael Jackson. During conversation they have found out that both would like to play to group. They have agreed at once to practise music professionally, instead of as a hobby. Within a year they communicated only through the Internet from the houses in Salford and Longsajte. The Anderson sent tracks by e-mail, Hatchkraft was responsible for a vocal. Because of an unpleasant situation at the first meeting they were rather afraid to spoil all a little. — «We didn't want, that acquaintance with each other to us disturbed» , — Hatchkraft admits. «Eventually, when we have found common language in music, we have understood that we, probably, could be friends» .
Тео, Adam and a little their friends began to play to group Bureau which has been renamed subsequently in Daggers. In 2008 Teo and Adam have composed a song under name Unspoken. Immediately having written down it and having heard only once, they have called other participants Daggers and declared it group dissolution. Next day they have taken off for Verona where have learned about existence of musical style of an italo-disco which has convinced them of correctness of the chosen direction of a writing of songs that has given to confidence of the forces. at this stage the participant of collective (we are) Performance Joseph Kross (English Joseph Cross), as the producer/poet, helped group Hurts development.
