In general, baptism should follow directly on the heels of faith. It is seen by many Christians as the beginning of true discipleship and is often referred to as “a first step of obedience. ” Baptism does not confer salvation because salvation is by faith alone. It is not necessary for salvation; otherwise, the thief on the cross could not have been with Jesus after his death. At BAC, we practice “believer’s baptism. ” We do not baptize those who are not old enough to understand the event and its significance in their lives.
