We are closer, than you think • Voronezh State University and the University of Tartu share common roots • The direct ancestor of VSU is a Yuriev (Derpt) University. • In 1918 because of German occupation in Estonia the University staff and students moved from Yuriev (currently Tartu) to Voronezh.

VSU Astronomical Observatory • In May 2013 Voronezh State University held an opening ceremony of its astronomical observatory which takes pride in its state-of-the-art telescope embracing results of the latest developments in optical engineering.
Our computer facilities • Computer labs for students in each building • Research computer labs • Cloud computing is a state-of-the-art technology that has certain and obvious advantages: it allows for less resource-demanding ITinfrastructure maintenance, and helps to maximize the effectiveness of the shared resources, save energy.
Sport student life • VSU has 33 teams in 25 kinds of sport (over 700 students in total). • VSU has groups and clubs in shaping, rock climbing, tourism, aikido, wushu, taekwondo, and lawn tennis, etc.
Student activity The students of VSU traditionally take part in the following events: • the Initiation Ceremony held in autumn by all 18 Faculties; • the "First-year Student" annual festival – a competition between faculties, where new students show their talents; • the "Students' Spring" annual festival – a competition between faculties, in which any VSU student can take part.
We support equality «Theatre of Equals» It is a unique project, that unites both able-bodied and disabled amateur actors. The project has helped young actors to learn new skills and develop their talent in acting.
We are international üVSU is engaged in active collaboration with foreign and international organizations, funds, and programmes üSince 2013, VSU has been implementing 9 international projects, including: • 5 TEMPUS projects, • 2 projects of the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union • the projects of the British Council, • SCOPES (Scientific Cooperation between Eastern Europe and Switzerland) programmes.
We are Friends VSU is always happy to welcome foreign students! Buddy Club VSU - a group which helps foreign students adapt to the new environment, to integrate into the atmosphere of the University and the city of Voronezh. VSU has a Russian language training program foreigners
