History of Christmas
Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem to sleep, but availability in the hotel was not. They had to spend the night outside the city, in the den, where the cattle herders sheltered from the storm. In den (or, in Russian, a cave) and born baby Jesus.
At the same time on the field near Bethlehem shepherds angels came with the news that the Savior came into the world. The shepherds came to worship the Infant Christ in the cave. Matthew tells the story of the Eastern sages - the wise men, who saw in the sky will shine a new, unusually bright star.
Magi (Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar) went to Jerusalem to ask where it should look for the Savior of the world. King of Judea, Herod heard about this, excited, and summoned the Magi. King wormed their time the star appeared, and hence the possible age of Jesus.
Following the guiding star, the Magi reached Bethlehem. They worshiped the newborn Savior, and offered him gifts treasures east: gold, frankincense and myrrh. Then, they received revelation from God not to return to Jerusalem, and moved the other way in his country.
Herod found that the wise men had deceived him, and sent soldiers to Bethlehem with orders to put to death all the male children under two years. The Gospel tells us that Joseph was in a dream warning of danger, and fled with the Mother of God and Child in Egypt, where the Holy Family stayed until the death of Herod.
