Car insurance All motorvehicles in Europe (and so in the Netherlands) must have an insurance at least for Third Party Liability, for damages done to others (third party). The insurance covers the main driver and the second driver. Any other is covered if the car owner has given permission to drive the car (or motorbike). A full comprehensive cover (for all damages to your own car) is advisable if your car is new or not older than 4 years. An additional cover to the Third Party Liability cover is a restricted cover, including fire, theft, storm, joy-riding and car glass.
