In-house Maintained Hardware § Worker Nodes – The Cluster did consist of 880 when at full strength, plus a test-bed rack of nodes(20). However some have now been used as servers, and a number have been retired. § Servers – these include the Computer Elements, Kickstart, NFS, Web, Mail, DPM, VOMS, RT, DHCP and DNS. § Presently there are still approx 860 operational machines plus network infrastructure, which includes 46 network switches. § Almost all of these are Dell™ Power. Edge™ SC 1425 machines, and incidentally have proved to be very reliable, running 24/7 for over 4 years. § There also a number of Shuttle units and Super. Micro ™ machines that are still providing various services. § The Dell service contract ran out 18 months ago and the hardware has been maintained and serviced solely by members of the Tier 2 since then.
