Introduction of the Zlín Region The Zlín Region is situated in the eastern part of the Czech Republic: • Area: 3, 964 km 2 (11 th largest region in the Czech Republic) • Number of inhabitants: nearly 600 000 • Density of the population: 149 inhabitants/km 2 • Number of districts: 4 (Kroměříž, Uherské Hradiště, Vsetín, Zlín) • Number of municipalities: 304 (of which 30 towns and cities)

• The area of Zlín can boast of the developed industry with long traditions of engineering, the production of tyres and other rubber based products, plastics, leather products as well as steel industry, leather and chemical processing. • Thomas Bata is a world-famous citizen from Zlín – the shoemaker who conquered the world. • Our school is located in Otrokovice. It is a town situated 10 kilometres from the town of Zlín.

The Experimentarium Park • The Experimentarium Park is an interactive entertaining educative science centre located in our school. • Basic educative means are learning and cognitive processes, playful, entertaining and educative interactive exhibits. • The Park draws inspiration from similar other IQ parks which offer a proven concept where teaching is carried without pressure via interactive elements (“playful school”).

The Experimentarium Park • Interaction, games, making experiments, research, exploration, trial and error method, practising, logical thinking • Promoting science, technology and technical progress in an entertaining way.

• Offer wider spectrum of meaningful leisure time activities for primary school and secondary school students with a variety of interests with the focus on biology and technology. • Encourage the younger generation towards selfeducation and self-knowledge based on “playful school” principle.
