Magdolna Quarter • 34 hectares • 12, 000 residents • Largest metropolitan poverty area of Budapest • High frequency of crime and drug abuse Quarter District Ppl. with university degree 10% People without completed primary education 10% Budapest 20% Unemployment 12, 60% 8, 60% 6, 50% Local government owned flats 42, 60% 17, 50% 5% Apartments with no amanities 37, 60% 19% 9, 50%

Karácsony Sándor utca • Loft formerly homeless family • First floor painted with tenants • Windows insulated in a number of apartments
Learnings • Social work and community development needed • Buildings in advanced stages of Rév 8 program significantly better performing • Ability to pay back extremely low – complex poverty relief program • Failures: • Unpleasant volunteer experience • Difficulty to find good locations for volunteer builds • Pricing challenges
