Grid Packaging Tools (GPT) • a collection of packaging tools built around an XML-based packaging data format • used to create all of the Grids Center Software Suite bundles • a pre-requisite for installing GRIDS NMI software.

NMI Client/Server • All the components in NMI that were packaged using GPT have been put into a server and a client bundle • Components include: – – – Globus Toolkit Condor-G Network Weather Service (NWS) KX 509 GSI-Open. SSH My. Proxy. • Nothing is started automatically.

Globus Toolkit • Globus Toolkit can be pictured as three pillars: – Resource Management (GRAM) – Information Services (MDS) – Data Management (Grid. FTP) • All use GSI security protocol at the connection layer

Condor-G • Submit many jobs at once • Monitor jobs via convenient interface • Receive notification when jobs complete or fail • Maintain your Globus credentials • Fault-tolerant --if your machine crashes, you can still perform all of these functions when your machine returns to life.

Network Weather Service • Short-term performance forecasts based on (recent) historical performance measurements – Gathers performance measurements from specified resource. – Produces a predicted value of deliverable performance during a specified time frame for a specified resource.

KX. 509/KCA • Creates an X. 509 certificate (certificate and private key) using your existing Kerberos ticket. • Credentials can be used for https Web activity. • Allows a user to authenticate to a host running Globus software using Kerberos tickets instead of requiring user-X. 509 certificates.

GSI Open. SSH • Modified version of Open. SSH • Used to login to remote systems and transfer files between systems without entering a password • Provides a single sign-on remote login capability for the Grid.

My. Proxy • GRID credential repository • Store your Grid credentials in a My. Proxy • Retrieve a proxy credential whenever and wherever needed (no managing private key and certificate files)

Gridconfig Tools • Configure Grid technologies • Generate configuration files in native formats • Manage multiple configuration files through a uniform interface
