Grady was the heart and soul of Emory SOM from its founding in 1920. Grady was the heart and soul of Emory SOM from its founding in 1920. Emory Clinic began in 1953. Emory Hospital was founded in 1904 but was not a teaching hospital until the clinic developed. Now Grady has a reduced but important role for Emory, but plays an essential role in Atlanta.
