Paul wrote letters between 52 and 64/67 AD Wrote to the Romans about 57 or 58 AD The Roman Church: n Perhaps began with Pentecost converts n Grew into a mixed race church n 49 AD Claudius banished all Jews from Rome and church became Gentile n 12 years later when the Jews invited back, the church didnt welcome them

Perhaps the beginning of anti-semitism and replacement theology: that the church has replaced Israel. A desperately, divisive issue that could create two churches, & spread throughout the Empire. So Paul writes a long letter to an unknown church to rebuke the Gentiles & persuade them
