Geospatial tools in Abu Dhabi Census 2011 1. Design and production of enumeration areas Geospatial tools in Abu Dhabi Census 2011 1. Design and production of enumeration areas • In 2010, SCAD undertook a frame update process (establishments, buildings and persons). • This frame, combined with new buildings data from municipalities, formed basis for designing Census 2011 enumeration areas. • Each enumerator assigned to a single work area (WA). Each WA could be divided into max 4 sub-working areas (SWAs). • Over 4, 200 WA maps and 11, 300 SWA maps created. • Used ESRI Arc. GIS for map design and quality control. 6

Pads & Galaxy Tabs • The AD Census used around 3, 000 i. Pads and Galaxy Tabs as primary collection instrument. • Each contained: interactive questionnaires (Arabic/English), GPS, mapping system, and reference material.
