George Orwell
Eric Arthur Blair, born 25 June 1903 in Motihari (India) in the family of a member of opium department of the British colonial administration in India.
He studied at the school of St. . Cyprian, in 1917, he received a scholarship and attended until 1921 Eton College.
English novelist and essayist. Best known as the author of the anti-utopian cult novel "1984" and the novel "Animal Farm".
From 1922 to 1927 he served in the colonial police in Burma, then a long lived in the UK and Europe, living doing odd jobs, then he began to write fiction and journalism. Since 1935, published under the pen name "George Orwell» .
Was a member of the Spanish Civil War 1936 -1939, fighting in the ranks of the militia formed party POUM, faced with the manifestations of the factional struggle among leftists. During the Second World War, led the anti-fascist program on the BBC.
He died of tuberculosis in London January 21, 1950.
