Good morning dear friends! Today we speak about Westminster Bridge – the biggest arch bridge in London. It connects northern and southern coast of the Thames to Westminster on one and Lambety on other. Westminster Bridge is built in 1862 instead of already unsafe old, operating since 1750. The bridge belongs to automobile and foot. It is executed in Gothic style from iron designs. The designer of the bridge is Charles Berri in due time being engaged in architectural design of the Westminster palace. Westminster Bridge represents an arch construction of green color in tone with color of chairs in the House of Commons of England. Seven bridge arches are supported by six iron support. Length of the bridge makes 252 meters, and width – 26 meters. Westminster Bridge is not simply sight of London. It enters one historical, cultural and tourist complex together with Westminster abbey and Big Ben. The bridge is arranged in such a way that under it freely float ferries. It has convenient descents to Thames Embankment. The bridge is especially popular with tourists in evening and night time.
