Improve Workforce planning Joint Action on Health Workforce Planning and Forecasting: • Start 11 April 2013 • 6 Million Euro • 28 countries • 30 associated and 45 collaborative partners • End in 2016 2. Specific goals: 1) Increased capacity in planning and forecasting by adopting fit-for-purpose models 2) Identifying Minimum data set for planning and forecasting models 3) Increased capacity in data collection and analysis 4) Improvements in the field of data understanding 5) Improved use of these models and data resulting in more evidence based health workforce planning 6) Supported the implementation of WHO Code of Practice Health and Consumers

Improve Workforce planning A) Pilot Network of Nurse Educators (July 2014): • Demand of Health care assistants (HCAs) will increase more efforts are needed to invest in their competences. 2. Anticipate Skills Needs • • 3. Recruitment and Retention 4. International Ethical Recruitment Health and Consumers Also recommends setting up a Common Training Framework (CTF) for HCA Follow up in Health Program 2014, feasibility study for a CTF for HCA (18 months, starting end of 2014)

International Ethical Recruitment Health and Consumers Developing a basic unit of elderly care work (ECVET for Elderly care) • 3. Recruitment and Retention VET providers, healthcare providers and policy makers • 2. Anticipate Skills Needs Final conference on 3 rd of December 2014
Action Plan 1. Improve Workforce planning C) EU mapping study on CPD • CPD systems vary across professions and countries 2. Anticipate Skills Needs • Almost all countries have a registration/licensing requirements for nurses 3. Recruitment and Retention • 24 out of 31 European countries have a mandatory CPD for nurses • Importance of CPD for patient safety • Final report will be finished in November 4. International Ethical Recruitment Health and Consumers
Action Plan 1. Improve Workforce planning Mapping study of innovative and effective recruitment and retention strategies in the EU: • > 250 strategies been identified across Europe, Australia, Brazil and South Africa 2. Anticipate Skills Needs 3. Recruitment and Retention • 8 case studies for more in depth research 4. International Ethical Recruitment • Results will be presented in spring 2015 Health and Consumers

Anticipate Skills Needs Data availability on the mobility and migration of health professionals: • The Joint Action will come with recommendations to overcome data gaps 3.
