Furniture can be a product of design and is considered a form of decorative art. In addition to furniture's functional role, it can serve a symbolic or religious purpose. Furniture can be made from many materials, including metal, plastic, and wood. Furniture can be made using a variety of woodworking joints which often reflect the local culture. Furniture includes objects such as tables, chairs, beds, desks, dressers, cupboards, etc. usually kept in a house or other building to make it suitable or comfortable for living or working in.
For Storage Wardrobe Cabinet also known as an armoire from the French, is a standing closet used for storing clothes. is usually a box-shaped piece of furniture with doors or drawers for storing different items. Some cabinets stand alone while others are built into a wall. Cabinets are typically made of wood or, now increasingly, of synthetic materials. Bookcase or bookshelf, is almost always have horizontal shelves, used to store books. They frequently have doors to protect the books from air pollution, and bookshelves are openfronted. These doors are almost always glazed.
For Seating A chair is a stable, raised surface used to sit on, commonly for use by one person. Chairs are most often supported by four legs and have a back; however, a chair can have three legs (in a triangle shape). A chair without a back or arm rests is a stool, or when raised up, a bar stool. A chair with arms is an armchair. A chair for more than one person is a couch, sofa, settee, or "loveseat"; or a bench. A separate footrest for a chair is known as an ottoman, hassock or pouffe.

Most beds have a headboard for resting against, with others also having side rails and footboards. There are many varieties of beds: • A bassinet is a bed specifically for newborn infants. • A bunk bed is two or more beds one atop the other. • A camp bed (also cot) is a simple, temporary, portable bed used by armies and large organizations in times of crisis. • A curtained bed is a luxury bed with curtains. • A waterbed is a mattress full of water.
