We’ll stop for photo at the Jumeirah Mosque – a magnificent example of Islamic architecture, Bastakia area – the oldest part of the city, where we’ll see the Wind Towers which served as air-conditioners in bygone days. Next we’ll visit the Dubai Museum housed in the 150 -years old Al Fahidi Fort. In the past it used to be a necessary oasis stopover on the caravan trail from the United Arab Emirates to Oman. This city has major historical attractions ranging from one of the first forts to be built by the Al Nahyan family over 175 years ago, to prehistoric tombs at Hilli, that are said to be more than 5, 000 years old. We will drive past the seat of education in the United Arab Emirates – The Al Ain University, before stepping into the Museum. Al Ain Museum Al Ain National Museum, located next to the Sultan or Eastern Fort, is the oldest museum in the UAE. It was built under the direction of HH the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan who believed that a country without a past has “neither a present nor a future". When you approach Jabrian fort you will realize that it is located on large and flat plain surrounded by mountains so you could have superb views of the surrounding mountains on the top of the fort. There are several old cannons on display inside as well as at the entrance of the fort. You will also see some potteries on display Bahla Fort Bahla, the oldest recorded region of civilization in Oman. There is a huge loam fort, which is at present under renovation. Round tower fort Visit the big round fort of the Yarubas dynasty. The Fort, which took 12 years to built, is famed for its 40 m-tall round tower. It is worth climbing to the top of the tower to see the date plantation encircling the town and the view of the Hajar mountains. The fort is a reminder of the town's significance through turbulent periods in Oman's long history. It was a formidable stronghold against raiding forces that desired Nizwa's abundant natural wealth and its strategic location at the crossroads of vital routes. Nizwa Souq The city, famous for its handicrafts and agricultural products, has an expansive souq with an array of products. The central market stands outside the renovated fort. Here you can purchase antiquities, pottery and silver jewellery. Nizwa silver craft is considered to be the best in the country. Our first stop is the Seeb Fish Souq by the seaside. We then move onto Barka, a seaside town with small souqs and a fort along the shoreline. Visit Bait Na’aman, a 17 th Century two-storey castle, now a fully restored and refurnished country house. Here you will experience an up close and personal journey in how the Imam’s lived their lives centuries ago. As you approach Nakhl, keep an eye out for the fortress that sits on a hillock outside the town. The fort’s origin is pre-Islamic with major contributions by the Al Ya’ruba and the Al Bu Sayed dynasties. We visit the fort. Visit the mineral-laden hot springs water in Nakhl.
