Frequently Mistranslated Words and Expressions Copyright 2006 by Douglas C. Sleeth After two years in Rostov-on-Don, I thought it was time to make a list of the most misused or mistranslated words by Russian speakers. Nearly all of these words are misused by most of my students of all levels when speaking. Many of these mistakes are made when directly translating words or expressions from Russian into English instead of translating the ideas. On this one page you have the key to avoiding the most frequent mistakes in spoken English. This list I dedicate to all my students in Rostov-on-Don! Короче, когда открываешь рот, надо одновременно включать мозги. Лучшего совета не бывает.
