Four goals WTO { Made by Babushkin Mikhail Denis Gribov
Some people believe that Russia's accession to the WTO is likely to have important impact on many aspects of the Russian economy, and a growing majority of Russians believe that WTO accession will benefit Russia. But many questions remain as to impact that the accession to the World Trade Organization, including are: What are the macroeconomic impact, and how it will affect the various sectors Russian economy, household income and low-income people, and what will be the impact in the Russian regions?
Russia was trying to join the WTO for 17 years. All this time it was obvious that the main problem is not so much economic as political. Russia is a key to the domestic political dimension of WTO accession. It is a comprehensible choice of destination. Why Russia to seekmembership in the organization? There are four goals.
First, the connection is important in itself: Russia should participate in such a major international institutions that will preserve protect domestic producers from foreign competition.
Second, the WTO will give Russian exporters of new tools to protect their interests, including the ability to counter anti-dumping procedures.
Thirdly, there will be incentives for the development of new sectors (especially hightech services), which will provide a strategic breakthrough in the Russian post-industrial world.
Fourth, participation in the WTO will promote competition and limit the impact of domestic financial and industrial groups seeking to expand their economic and political control.
Unlike in China, Russia seeks to WTO to immediately fill the world markets with their cheap goods. For us, the WTO - is a prerequisite for admission to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and in the future - for the common European economic space. The first priority for Russia is not so much integration into the world market as integration into modern institutions of international regulation.
