Natural Disasters that have plagued El Salvador In 1998, Hurricane Mitch ravaged the country, leaving 200 dead and more than 30, 000 homeless. l In January 2001, A tremendous landslide wiped out a portion of the town of Santa Tecla in the wake of a 7. 6 magnitude earthquake. The earthquake killed 844 people, left nearly 5, 000 injured. l

This clinic serves approximately 1, 750 people. l The doctor comes to the clinic every 15 days. l The health care promoter is responsible for the well being of everyone in the district. l People have to travel over an hour by bus for any serious illness or exams. l
