(Risk vs. Stability) - Base salary - Stock grants/options - 401(k) matches; retirement plans - Partnership • What “extras” does the company offer? - Sponsor additional schooling - New hire activities/program (formal vs. informal)
Typical I/T characteristics of a “large, non -I/T” company I/T viewed as integral to the business, but not the primary purpose of the company Technology • Implementers of technology, not “creators” - Internal consultants to the business providing solutions to their specific problems - Technology is a business enabler • Generally not leading edge - Often technology is several generations old - May be close to leading edge in some specialized areas - Work from a standard “technology set” • Few true technology “experts” - Internal experts (advisors) rather than industry experts
