Agenda 1 Reasons to NOT Have Cameras 2 The Financial Case for Having Camera Technology 3 Examples of Camera Technology 4 Questions
Reasons to NOT Have Cameras We’re in the service business so penalizing people for extras or go backs isn’t an option…. If someone calls in and says we missed their can, we just pull up the GPS and replay the route to see if they were on the street at a certain time… We can’t charge for extras…. We pick up unlimited trash/bulk/etc. so it wouldn’t matter if there were extras… We can charge for go backs but we don’t…. . It’s too expensive….
Why Use Camera Technology? Who can charge for extras that you pick up on residential or commercial routes? Who can occasionally charge for go-backs? Who here believes that your drivers could be a bit more efficient in the data they usually record on paper?
Why Use Camera Technology? How do you currently deal with customers that call in and say you missed them? How do you currently deal with violations or extra bags or extra cubic yards? How do you properly bid on a contract that allows unlimited trash/bulk/etc. pickup?
Go-Backs Are Costly An exhaustive study of our customers found that the average time it took to go back and get a missed can is 30 minutes.
Running Your Trucks Is Costly In the fall of 2015, a study of our current customers found that the average cost to run a truck per hour was $100.
Quick Math – Residential Routes What do go-backs cost a fleet of 30 trucks running residential routes annually if each route has one goback per day? $100 x. 5 x 30 trucks x 260 = $390, 000/yr What if it was just ½ a go-back per route per day? Half of $390, 000 is still $195, 000
Quick Math – Residential Routes But we can’t charge for go-backs…. .
Quick Math – Customer Service How many times is Mrs. Jones going to call….
Quick Math – Commercial Routes Billable Extras….
