INTRODUCTION “That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind” Neil Armstrong Small changes start with what we do every day from our homes. The sooner we start, the better!
1. RESPONSIBLE ENERGY CONSUMPTION WHAT’S THE PROBLEM? WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT? Excessive energy consumption causes: -Walk or cycle instead of using the car -Using up the Earth’s resources faster than they can be naturally produced -Use devices that consume less energy -Most types of energy are polluting -Use the heating and the air conditioner only when truly necessary -Only use what you really need
2. RESPONSIBLE WATER CONSUMPTION WHAT’S THE PROBLEM? WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT? Water is the basic element for life, and nowadays it has become a scarce, and often polluted, resource. This threatens the life of all living beings on the planet. -Buy home appliances that consume less water -Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth/shaving -Spend less time in the shower -Don’t waste water unnecessarily
3. RECYCLE/REUSE/REDUCE WHAT’S THE PROBLEM? WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT? The incorrect disposal of waste generates two problems: -Recycle by putting everything in its corresponding waste container -an increasing number of landfills, which contaminate subterranean water and rivers, and diminish the soil quality -Reuse everything that you can -an increasing use of incineration plants, which pollute the air. -Reduce waste, especially the most polluting type
