Еnvironmental protection
The Earth is our home What sort of home it is depends on how we treat it, just as the houses we live in depend on how we take care of them. Do you like to fish or swim? Do you like to walk through the woods? Do you like to breathe fresh air? Or to watch birds and hear them sing? If you do, we'll have to treat our Earth home in a different way!
With the development of overcrowded industrial highly developed cities, which put huge amounts of pollutants into surrounds, the problem has become more and more dangerous. Today our planet is in serious danger. Acid rains, global warming, air and water pollution, and overpopulation are the problems that threaten human lives on the Earth.
Ecology and the contamination of environment, is concerned with climate, over-population in certain areas, deaths of plant and animals, chemical contamination of seas, lakes and rivers as well as atomic experiments and dumping of atomic waste from power stations. Floods, unexpected draughts, and the greenhouse effect are the next reasons.
Billions of tons of coal and oil are consumed around the world every year. When these fuels are burnt, they produce smoke and other by-products, which is emitted into the atmosphere. Although wind and rain occasionally wash away the smoke, given off by power plants and automobiles, but it is not enough. These chemical compounds undergo a series of chemical reactions in the presence of sunlight; as a result we have smog, mixture of fog and smoke. While such pollutants as particulates we can see, other harmful ones are not visible. Among the most dangerous to bur health are carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide and ozone or active oxygen.
Factories emit tons of harmful chemicals. These emissions have disastrous consequences for our planet. They are the main reason for the greenhouse effect and acid rains.
Unfortunately some means of transport can be regarded as offenders in poisoning the environment.
Our forests are disappearing because they are cut down or burnt. If this trend continues, one day we won't have enough oxygen to breathe, we won't see a beautiful green forest at all.
The seas are in danger. They are filled with poison: industrial and nuclear wastes, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. If nothing is done about it, one day nothing will be able to live in our seas.
Many species of flora and fauna have disappeared. Some of them are on the brink of extinction, many have been put down into the "Red Book of Nature". Every hour some kinds of animals and plants die out for ever!
And even greater threats are nuclear power stations. We all know how tragic the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster are.
The problem overpopulation and pollution
Have you thought where the poison goes that we spray on gardens and grass to kill insects and weeds? Onto the things the birds eat, making it hard for them to live And share with us their beautiful colors and songs. There a lot of ways to kill harmless but most of known methods involve using chemicals which are bad for the environmental.
Stop!!!
If we don’t do anything about this spoiling if the world around us – it’s air, it’s water, it’s land, and it’s life – our lives are not going to be nice. But there is much that we can do.
We can do: 1) Factories can clean their smoke and sewage. 2) Cars and planes can be made so that their fumes do not add to the pollution. 3) The mountains can be covered with forests if the cutting of trees is done with care. We must plant again where we have cut. 4) DO NOT LITTER! 5) And other methods Everyone can do something!
For a long time, people have used their Earth home without thinking of what was happening to it. Now we see that we must treat it better if it is to be a nice home. IT CAN BE!!! Thanks for watching
