Text about Kyiv
A legend of Kyiv known as legend about its foundation. Once Lived three brothers. One - Kyi, second - Scheks, the third - Khoryv. They had a very Beautiful younger sister Lybid. In those days people lived near the lakes and rivers. So did the family. Ancient people had to make everything they needed by themselves. Thus, the brothers and sister could do a lot of things.
They were skilfull craftsmen. Firm boats were made by the eldest brother Kyi, who was the strongest of all the brothers. Fine pots were made by Schek. Khoryv was known as a very creative young man. Beautiful silver works (rings, serhy, necklaces) were made by him. Lybid was known as a gifted spinner. People loved her linen that was whitened in the sun.
Once day the brothers and sister were traveling along the river Dnipro and saw the majestic green hills on its banks that were covered with green trees and bright flowers. This family like the place, and agreed to settle on the tree hills and build a city there. Soon more and more people started coming. The brothers and the sister decided to name it Kyiv after their strong and brave elder brother , Kyiv.
Kreschatyk - the heart of Kiev. Many years ago there was a valley surrounded by a thick forest with a stream across it on the place where Khreschtyk stands nowadays. Kievan princes used to hunt wild animals in this swampy place. Kreschatyk is A shotened name of Kreschaty Yar. Linend up with chestnut trees , Kreschatyk Street looks especiall lovely in spring when they are in blossom.
Among the square of Kyiv Maidan Nezalezhnosti stands out as the attractive one. You meet people of different ages, races , Natіonalities from other countries there. Such a diversity proves the fact that the square possessess a specialatmosphere of undertanding , frioendship and support. You feel comfortable here as if you are staying at sweet home. In acient times it used to be a swampy place with only the Polish Gate.
