Emerson provides Monitoring of Underground Coal Mine Atmosphere & Green House Gases Emissions at Ventilation Shafts • BACKGROUND - • CHALLENGE − − − • Provide the most reliable and accurate analyser to Tube Bundle System (TBS) or “coalmine canary” for underground ventilation control and safety monitoring applications. The Australian government has introduced a carbon tax requiring measurements of Green House Gases (GHG) concentrations at ventilation shafts. We do not design systems on our own because coal mining regulations are just too complex. APPLICATIONS − • Deltamation, an Australian OEM company, designs and manufactures Analytical Systems for use in Australian underground coal mines to monitor and record underground gas levels. This market is traditionally dominated by SICK who builds the entire systems. The market dominance is now being challenged by a few local OEMs that build systems, bringing samples back from many areas to the analyzer system. Tube Bundle System: Monitoring Underground atmosphere in sealed area and Long Wall. (0 to 10% & 0 to 100% CH 4 / 0 to 21 % O 2, / 0 to 100 & 0 to 1000 ppm CO / 0 to 30% CO 2) Green House Gases: Monitoring of green house gases from exhaust of underground coal mines (0 to 1% & 0 to 5% CH 4 / 0 to 2% CO 2).
