Recent Disasters have shown us… The more planning we do before a disaster strikes… o The easier it will be for us to make it through. o The quicker we will recover from its effects.
Think about the following when creating a family plan: o What happens if we are separated? o Where can we meet? o How will we contact each other? o Who are our emergency contacts? o What if I have to report to work? o What if I can’t get home? o Alternate routes-work/home o Who will watch the kids? o What about the school? o What about our pets? o What about the house? —power, gas, water
Employee Preparedness q You may be at work when a disaster strikes. q You may be called into work after a disaster strikes. q If you don’t know your family is OK, will you be able to focus on you job?
Emergency Kits • Home kit – 7 days • Grab-n-go kit • Car kit – 2 to 3 days • Work kit- 3 days
What does a grab and go kit look like ? Includes methods to survive temporarily with out formal shelter. Can be a backpack, suitcase on wheels, a bucket.

Have a kit for your CAR q Remember sturdy walking shoes, rain gear, seasonal clothing q Keep your tank at least half full at all times. q Automobile emergency equipment q Shovel and kitty litter or sand

Shelter-In-Place LISTEN Turn on AM radio or TV CCTV will scroll instructions in English, Spanish and Tagalog County phone ring down system will start calling affected areas 13
Shelter-In-Place It’s all about staying inside! Don’t call 911 You will tie up a needed line at the 911 dispatch center. And the county’s phone ringdown system won’t be able to reach you! DO call if there is an injury or other immediate emergency to report. 14
Shelter-In-Place After the emergency. . . Local authorities will determine when the event is “all clear. ” Open windows and doors and air out rooms with fresh air. 15
