On call by Principal as needed.

Standard Element Goal • Goal: To improve the Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Program in both Standard Element Goal • Goal: To improve the Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Program in both schools using the adopted curriculums. Programs used: Lubeck-Lion’s Quest, Madison-7 Habits of Happy Kids. • From August 2012 -May 2013, the School Counselor will coordinate with the school staff of Lubeck and Madison Schools a Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Plan which incorporates the use of the Lion’s Quest Program at Lubeck School and the 7 Habits of Happy Kids Program at Madison School.

Standard Element Goal • Lessons will be created in the areas of Academic, Career, Standard Element Goal • Lessons will be created in the areas of Academic, Career, and Personal/Social for each grade level. • A 7 Habit Concept will be covered each month at both schools. • Lessons will be divided between school staff and school counselor. • Progress will be monitored by the School Counseling Advisory Committee at both schools.

Student Impact Goal • Goal: By January 2013, the School Counselor will create grade Student Impact Goal • Goal: By January 2013, the School Counselor will create grade level “Lunch Bunch” Groups in grades 3, 4, & 5 focusing upon improving student’s selfesteem, school attendance & lower discipline referrals. • Participation will be based upon a student’s amount of absences/tardies (+5), number of office referrals, parent & teacher recommendations. • A Pre and Post test will be given which measures the amount of ‘healthy self-esteem’ each student has. (“The Way I Feel About Myself”) • This is the first year for this type of ‘lunch bunch’. It is a bi-weekly group.

Program Growth Goal • Based on the outcomes of the School Counseling Program Audit Program Growth Goal • Based on the outcomes of the School Counseling Program Audit at the end of 2012 for each school, a School Counseling Advisory Committee for both schools (Lubeck & Madison) will be created during the 2012 -2013 school year. • Each committee will meet three times during the year to review the progress of the School Counseling Program goals.

Piedmont Elementary School • Located in inner city, Charleston, WV • PK-5 th ; Piedmont Elementary School • Located in inner city, Charleston, WV • PK-5 th ; about 300 students • Serves 2 housing projects, 1 homeless shelter, 1 domestic violence shelter, 1 half way house. • High rate of transfers (about 230 students have transferred in or out of Piedmont this year). • 87% students receive free/reduced lunch • High number of discipline entries in WVEIS

Standard Element Goal • Goal: Focus on increased staff training in relation to school Standard Element Goal • Goal: Focus on increased staff training in relation to school crisis planning. – On July 9 th, the school counselor will train all staff members on the new policies and procedures set forth in the Kanawha County Schools Threat Assessment. – All forms and documents will be reviewed in detail.

Standard Element Goal – A Crisis response team will be established to respond to Standard Element Goal – A Crisis response team will be established to respond to any threats made by or against students at Piedmont Elementary School. – By the end of the 2 nd nine weeks, the counselor will conduct a staff development training focused on strategies to use with agitated individuals. – Progress will be monitored by the School Counseling Advisory Committee.

Student Impact Goal • Goal – To decrease the number of discipline referrals by Student Impact Goal • Goal – To decrease the number of discipline referrals by 8% from last school year. – Throughout the year, the school counselor will monitor student conduct using the Respect and Protect behavior program. Students with numerous Behavior Identification Forms (BIFs) will be targeted for intervention. – Each 9 -weeks, the school counselor will provide a behavior page on each student’s PEP (Personalized Education Plan), so that students and parents can monitor student conduct.

Try? Counseling program. – High risk students may be referred to the CHANCE, Innerchange or Damous Program to assist with outpatient therapy.
