If the verb of the main clause is in the present (or future), the present subjuctive is used in the dependent clause. El Condicional • Used to express what WOULD happen -Si fuera presidente, Sería excelente – • “He were president, he would be excellent. ” -¿Quién sería la primera presidenta? ¿Sería Sarah Palin? -Who would be the first (female) president. Would it be Sarah Palin? • Also used to express Hypothetical situations ¿Si ella tuviera el dinero, iría a Europa. • Si Miguel pudiera bailar, bailaría la Lambada.
