EDEN management – Milestones EDEN management – Milestones

EDEN – Milestones 1/2 M 04 Data sources and media for historical data have EDEN – Milestones 1/2 M 04 Data sources and media for historical data have been identified by each of the teams and in each of the countries involved (paper, various digital storage systems, electronic format) and allow an assessment of the effort needed for standardisation and storage. The EDEN website is operational, the EDEN leaflet and the first printed issue of the EDEN Newsletter are available for distribution. The Advisory Group has been appointed. M 06 All field sites have been selected and field teams are operational to collect data routinely. Protocols are available for standardisation and matching information generated from data from various sources (field, historic) and scales (high/low resolution, regional – national – local) - essential to allow further data processing. M 12 State of the art diagnostic tools are available to all field teams as needed. M 16 The EDEN strategy document has been made public during an international workshop organised at the second annual meeting, enabling EDEN, within the international community, to play a catalysing role in the development of health-environment information systems for policy making. M 18 The final version of the web-based central data management system and data clearing house (IDEAS) has been debugged and is available for storing data routinely.

EDEN – Milestones 2/2 M 24 First generation epidemiological models of selected diseases and EDEN – Milestones 2/2 M 24 First generation epidemiological models of selected diseases and pan-European eco-climatic time series analysis are available and enable the development and fine-tuning of second generation models for each of the selected EDEN diseases. M 36 Fine-tuned second generation epidemiological models of selected diseases are available to identify factors and indicators of change (both disease-specific and generalised) and pave the way for generic health / environment models. Results are presented at an international conference organised by EDEN. M 48 EDEN’s validated specific disease models, eco-climatic time series analysis and generic models combined with the information available from other sources pave the way for the development of “what if” scenarios for the future. M 60 “What if scenarios” have been discussed and tested by EDEN (EDEN teams, Steering Committee and the Advisory group) and are a driving force which trigger international discussion and policy-makers’ & public awareness for the needs of a DMEWS based on EDEN’s results and recommendations : · - Scenario outputs are discussed at international fora, · - EDEN contributes to public awareness and health initiatives in Europe. The EDEN project results are presented at an international conference organised by EDEN.
