THINGS TO INCLUDE The portfolio represents you, your experience and your development. ORGANISING YOUR PROFILE Create a system that is easy to use, where you can quickly store and access documents. Be selective about what you put in, be concise, update and weed out materials regularly. Divide your portfolio into sections.

STEPS TO CREATING YOUR PORTFOLIO 1. Getting started Create your professional profile. You could include your career history, current teaching situation, interests and aspirations. 2. Where am I now? How did I get here? Where would I like to be? Evaluate your skills, knowledge and experience. Identify your strengths and areas for development.
3. Plan Set goals. Investigate different tools, techniques and methods for achieving your goals. Decide how you will proceed and don’t forget to set realistic deadlines. 4. Reflect Think about what you do. How do you do it? Why do you do it in the way that you do? What have you learned from your experiences? How do you feel about your classroom practice? What changes could you make?
5. Document/record Insert materials that show your development. These might be certificates, observation reports, activities you have created, samples of learner work or your reflections on an aspect of teaching. 6. Review your progress regularly. Set deadlines to look at how you are managing your goals. Use your review to track progress, make changes or add items to your plan.
