Portfolio of Projects § § § 12 PIAC advised focus on a single catalytic Portfolio of Projects § § § 12 PIAC advised focus on a single catalytic project GITOC task team determined a portfolio of projects and discussion with SITA and DPSA lead to a portfolio of projects The two primary catalytic projects are: - Track and Trace Application- This will allow citizens to use cellular SMS technology to inquire about delivery of specific services from Home Affairs and other citizen facing departments - E-Health Application – This will provide improved public access to health care. Using ICTs health workers in rural areas will be enabled to book confirmed appointments for patients at clinics or hospitals. ICT based remote diagnostic systems will enable doctors to diagnose patients over great distances and prescribe remedies without patient contact.

The cause of democracy will be promoted by allowing citizens to air their views on issues. § Single View of the Public Servant – This will enable government to better manage its workforce across the three spheres of government by ensuring that unique identification exists for each employee and all information, including assets can be accessed via the unique identifier. 13

A unique identifier for citizens will be developed to permit this, and will again leverage the work already done at SARS, SASSA, Home Affairs and SITA. § Automated Interactive Voice Response (IVR) – This will be developed to permit citizens to access government information from the Batho Pele Gateway using this additional popular access channel again significantly broadening the benefits of E-Government for the majority of citizens. SMS Enabled Batho Pele Gateway – This will offer access to service related information via the cellular SMS service for at least the most popular service categories in a format suited to this access channel. § 14
