More from teachers… “I think most teachers don't care. Also, since most curriculum materials explicitly state that they are available for copying for the classroom, it wouldn't occur to us to wonder if they are being used incorrectly or not. In the elementary level, there are few uses of any materials that would not fall under fair use as I understand it. ” (K - 5, private) “Once you share your materials (your own or purchased) with another teacher, they go viral--it's like they become everyone else's property; there isn't a lot of thought or respect for "intellectual property. ” (6 - 8, public)
More from teachers… “Many teachers that I have interviewed are reluctant to share their work because they don't think it's "good enough" or can actually provide some value to others. ” (educational publishing) “I often google when I'm working on a lesson and use other teacher's ideas, and if I use a worksheet someone created I'll leave the website name on it. Is this cool? ” (K - 5, private) “I am not sure how to check if something is classified as do not copy. ” (6 th grade, public) “What's the problem when you're just quickly using something, for 45 minutes, with 20 students, that you may never need again? It's not that big a deal in the scheme of copyright infringement. ” (6 -8. private)

“What was accomplished previously with textbooks and classroom lectures has shifted to other resources and learning technologies. … it is truly the age of learnercentered and empowered learning. It is time to push forward new learning proposals and goals, not just for a particular classroom, program or institution - as important as it is to do so - but to reflect on this impact on a more global scale. Today, we should be striving to take advantage of unique and low-cost learning opportunities and formats available for students of any educations need, monetary status, background, or age level. ” - The World Is Open by Curtis J Bonk Introduction - Terms & Licenses - Strategies - Licensing work - CC & OER - Tour of OER - Questions & Discussion
