Team Goals n Provide West JV/Varsity teams with players who are n n Grow as a person, player, and student n n Fundamentally Sound Knowledgeable of the basic offense/defensive schemes of Downingtown West Competitors Do what is right on and off the field Pay attention to the little things Accountability Have Fun/Play with Excitement n It is a game
Team Expectations Always do the right thing in and out of school! n Be on time (5 mins early is on time and on time is late) n Be present at all team practices, meetings and functions n Respect yourself, coaches, and teammates at all times n Downingtown Athletic Code of Conduct. n Substance Abuse, Team Code & School Code n
Practice Policy n Practice will never be cancelled for weather. n Always have footwear for inside, turf or grass n Never be late or miss practice. n Schedule appointments around practice. n Communicate all attendance issues to your coach.
Practice Schedule All players must have gym shoes everyday. n n Summer Schedule: n 6/26 -8/2: Freshmen Workout Monday/Wednesdays – 6: 30 -8 pm DWHS n Bring sneakers, cleats and a water bottle 1 st Week : Aug 21 st – Aug 25 th n 4 -6: 30 – arrive at 3: 45 n Season n 3: 15 - 5: 45
Attendance & Behavior n Unexcused absence. Ø Ø Ø n n 1 st – loss of job 2 nd – non participation. 3 rd – removal from team n Game Week practice? Ø n No practice = no play School Citizenship Counts! Attendance will be recorded daily. Perfect attendance is expected. OSS, ISS, DETENTION, HAIR-CUT, COLLEGE GAMES, NO RIDE, H-WORK, PROJECT DUE, FAMILY VACATION, CHURCH/ SCOUT CAMP
Equipment & Locker Room n Our equipment is the best money can buy. Ø Ø Ø It is protective and must be worn at all times. DASD will provide the gear! Do not store game cloth in locker room over night. n n Keep the locker room neat and wash your gear. No cleats in the school. No horse play in the locker room. Lock up anything of personal value, or give it to coach!
Academic Expectations n n You must reach DHS and PIAA minimum standards to achieve athletic eligibility. n DWHS – Pass 4 / 6 n PIAA – Pass 4/6. n Monitored Weekly 9 th and 10 th Grade Count!
