Double Degree Programme [DDP] CORS Update on Double Degree Program [DDP] 1
Double Degree Programme [DDP] Overview § § § § DDP Implementation in CORS: Past & Present Old VS New Declaration Old VS New Module Registration Old VS New FFG (File For Graduation) Changes in DDP Points Distribution Changes in Points Policy for Law DDP students Q&A 2
Double Degree Programme [DDP] DDP Implementation in CORS: Past & Present • Past – DDP students are only recognized by CORS as students from the primary faculty ONLY – This cause problems during declaration, module bidding and FFG because o DDP students can’t bid for their secondary faculty modules during the faculty protected round o No systematic way of capturing declaration and FFG specific to the secondary faculty • Present – DDP students are recognized by CORS as students from BOTH the primary and secondary faculties 3
Double Degree Programme [DDP] Old VS New Declaration • Old way – Update your declaration for the primary faculty via CORS OR faculty specific systems (check with Faculty for more details) – Update your declaration for the secondary faculty manually. i. e. submit request to the secondary faculty admin • New way – Update your declaration of BOTH primary and secondary faculties via CORS. – Note that some Faculties require their students to perform their major/specialization declaration in a separate system 4
Double Degree Programme [DDP] Old VS New Declaration • E. g. Primary (Engineering) & Secondary (So. B) 5
Double Degree Programme [DDP] Old VS New Module Registration • Old way – Register and bid for your module lectures from the primary faculty via CORS – Register your module lectures from the secondary faculty manually by submitting request to the secondary faculty admin • New way – Register and bid for BOTH of your primary and secondary module lectures via CORS – Note: DDP students will be granted the necessary protection as students from the secondary faculty when bidding for the secondary faculty modules 6
Double Degree Programme [DDP] Old VS New Module Registration • E. g. Primary (Engineering) & Secondary (So. B) 7
Double Degree Programme [DDP] Old VS New Module Registration • Proceed to bidding as per normal 8
Double Degree Programme [DDP] Old VS New FFG (File For Graduation) • Old way – Inform BOTH primary and secondary faculties manually when DDP students want to FFG – A series of checks kick in to coordinate the process of FFG status of student between the two faculties • New way – DDP students will FFG via CORS – At the end of the semester, BOTH primary and secondary faculties automatically pick up this information from CORS and process accordingly – Only two options of FFG is allowed for DDP: o File for Double Honours Degree (Hons + Hons) o File for Double Degree (Hons + Bachelor) 9
Double Degree Programme [DDP] Old VS New FFG 10
Double Degree Programme [DDP] Changes in DDP Points Distribution • Past – Each DDP student follows the primary faculty points distribution. o SCI DDP = 600 P, 400 G o ENG DDP = 750 P, 250 G – ALL DDP students need to fulfill the same number of ULR – ULR can be double counted towards BOTH degrees – This form of points distribution is unfair to DDP students with a lesser amount of G account points • Present – ALL DDP students will have 750 P and 250 G points uniformly – This new points distribution will be effective from AY 2007/2008 Semester 1 11
Double Degree Programme [DDP] Changes in Points Policy For LAW DDP • Past – All primary faculty LAW DDP student has only 200 G points – Points are not allowed to be carried over to the following semester • Present – All primary faculty LAW DDP students will have 750 P and 250 G points – Points are allowed to be carried over to the following semester – If a LAW DDP student drop from his/her double degree programme, what will happen? o The old arrangement will follow: § All points of P will be removed § Only 200 G points allocated per semester § Points will not be carried over across semester 12
