District of Columbia Courts General jurisdiction for the District of Columbia Reports directly to Congress but serves the citizens of the District of Columbia (DC) Courts are comprised of three entities (Court of Appeals, Superior Court, and Court System) Appropriations are received in five parts (Court of Appeals, Superior Court, Court System, Defender Services, and Capital Projects) 1, 200 FTE’s and 120+ Judges Processes more than 150 K cases each year All fines and fees collected may not supplement appropriations and are directly assigned to the Crime Victims Fund Governed by a committee of Judges and Executives
